Cynthia Peithman

As a young girl, Cynthia always loved art, and she loved to bake. She has been baking professionally since 1983, when she graduated with honors from the Hospitality Management Program of New York City Technical College. Prior to attending that school, Cynthia earned her Bachelor in Fine Arts from The School of Visual Arts.

Cynthia served 11 years as Pastry Chef for Glorious Food, a prestigious Manhattan based catering firm. During her time working there, she was honored to bake Caroline Kennedy's wedding cake, and the christening cakes for Carolyn's three children.

Eventually, Cynthia moved on, and served as senior cake decorator for the Manhattan landmark restaurant, The Water Club, where she was able to hone her skills in cake artistry.

Cynthia has shared her baking knowledge through teaching. She taught part-time as an adjunct at New York City Technical College in the 1990's. Currently, she is a full-time instructor of Pastry Arts at The French Culinary Institute in Soho, Manhattan.

In 2000, Cynthia combined her experience as a pastry chef with her background in art, to create Cakeline. All cakes are custom designed, baked and decorated by Cynthia.
